About Al-Habib

Seeking of knowledge is a duty of every Muslim.

The mosque has continuously played an active role in the guidance of the Muslim community, teaching both the young and older generations as well as producing a venue for Muslims to meet one another on religious occasions. But the mosque has much more potential than this, and we need to utilize it fully so that many more areas of the lives of Muslims may benefit from it.

Five Essential Pillars Of Islam

Now is as good a time as any to educate ourselves on the five obligations of a Muslim in Islam

Shahada

The profession of faith (the shahada) is the most fundamental expression of Islamic beliefs. It simply states that “There is no God but God and Muhammad is his prophet.

Salat

Muslims are expected to pray five times a day. This does not mean that they need to attend a mosque to pray; rather, the salat, or the daily prayer, should be recited five times a day.

Zakat

The giving of alms is the third pillar. Although not defined in the Qu’ran, Muslims believe that they are meant to share their wealth with those less fortunate in their community of believers.

Hajj

All Muslims who are able are required to make the pilgrimage to Mecca and the surrounding holy sites at least once in their lives. Pilgrimage focuses on visiting the Kaaba and walking around it seven times. Pilgrimage occurs in the 12th month of the Islamic Calendar.

Shaum

During the holy month of Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, Muslims are expected to fast from dawn to dusk. While there are exceptions made for the sick, elderly, and pregnant, all are expected to refrain from eating and drinking during daylight hours.

Our Services

Mosques commonly serve as locations for prayer, Ramadan vigils, funeral services, marriage and as well as homeless shelters.

Hadith & Sunnah

The Quran, hadith, and sunnah are Islamic sources that one can learn a lot about Islam, its laws, teachings, and way of life. The Quran is the most important Islamic source as it is the word of God verbatim and contains many useful content for living a prosperous life.

Charity & Donation

As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, charity plays a huge part in everyday life for Muslims around the world. Helping those less fortunate than ourselves by giving up free time is one way, but donating Zakat and ongoing charity (also known as Sadaqah Jariyah) are just some of the many ways that Islamic teachings prioritise charity in the wider world.

Muhammad[a] (Arabic: مُحَمَّد; c. 570 – 8 June 632 CE)[b] was an Arab religious, social, and political leader and the founder of Islam.[c] According to Islamic doctrine, he was a prophet divinely inspired to preach and confirm the monotheistic teachings of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets.[2][3][4] He is believed to be the Seal of the Prophets within Islam, with the Quran as well as his teachings and practices forming the basis of Islamic religious belief.

To become a Muslim is very simple. You only need to say the ‘Shahadah’ that is testimony which is - La illaha illallah Muhammad rosulullah - meaning there is no god except Allah and Muhammad is His messenger. It is as simple as that! Then, you perform the prescribed bath to start praying five times a day.

The current structure was built after the original building was damaged by fire during the siege of Mecca by Umayyads in 683.

Dating is still linked to its Western origins, which implies underlying expectations of sexual interactions — if not an outright premarital sexual relationship — which Islamic texts prohibit. But Islam does not forbid love.
